Equine Outreach got a call saying pick up some wild horses or let them ship to Mexico, so we went and picked them up. The volunteers who were out at EOI moved the geldings from the last group of WS Horses out into the pasture and got their old pen ready for the new arrivals. And what colorful new arrivals they are. Palominos, Dunalinos, Paint, Appys, and even a cremello filly. We reunited mothers and babies and siblings. We also saved a orphaned appy colt with an injured leg and some Stallions who will be gelded soon. All of these beautiful horses now have a chance at a happy life. Four of these horses have already found a home and hopefully more will find homes soon too! Please contact Equine Outreach for adoption information or to donate to help support these wild horses. www.equineoutreach.com Adopt@EquineOutreach.com ~Thanks for watching~

There are responsibilities involved in taking care of an animal, as there are diseases that can affect animals and horses. There are many causes like food habits or parasites, and the main thing is quick and timely treatment for its recovery.
Colic is a condition that cannot be ignored. Horses are known to die of this if left untreated. The symptoms can easily be noticed and horse owners should be aware of the signs to look out for.
Symptoms Of Colic In Horses
The horse may feel jumpy and act in a crazy manner – you will need to remain with the animal for a while to make sure that it is suffering.
There are other horses that may stand up or lie flat on the ground and kick its stomach. This is the same reaction that humans adopt when confronted with pain. It would be wise to remove the horse to another area so that it does not do damage to itself or the stable.
The horse usually sleeps lying flat on the ground, so since this is normal, it may not mean anything, but if there is a change since last seen, there could be a reason and should be looked into.

Equine Integrative Therapies www.HolisticHorseWorks.com There is also a DVD available to learn more about how to work on your horse yourself! April Battles travels extensively, helping horses and their owners come to a new understanding and balance of how to be able to move better together. If you are wondering why your horse is tripping, short striding, pinning ears, swishing tail when saddled or asked for the trot or canter, April can help you find the issue and what the horse needs to resolve it. Training issues – unwilling to flex at the poll, behind the bit, unwilling to extend the gait or canter on the other lead or stop quickly, a horse that turns better to one side than the other – these are all signs the horses body has restriction of motion somewhere and can not do what we ask of them. These simple yoga stretches for horse will help you identify where the problem area is and help the horse work it out. If your horse cannot do these exercises easily, please call April for help as there are deeper issues to resolve. You can have a well rounded, light on the bit, collected horse with smooth gaits and transitions that can become a fun and willing equine partner. April can be reached PST at (530) 823-7321 or April@HolisticHorseWorks.com

Although cats and dogs are the most common type of pets for most families to choose, there are other pets that can be very rewarding as well. Having a pet in the family home can fill a gap in life that otherwise may be unfilled. Pets can provide individuals with acceptance and emotional satisfaction that may be lacking in other ways. They also provide a way for families to bond together, and they can teach valuable life lessons to children.
Other pets that you may choose to share in your family home could include small animals like a hamster or guinea pig, aquatic creatures like fish, reptiles like turtles or snakes, or even large animals like a horse, pony or pet goat. All types of pets can be special to someone who cares about them.
Families that have pets share a special bond between them and their pets. The family members always have a companion to share their everyday lives with. The pet needs care and the family is brought together to provide that care for the pet. And in return, the pet gives its trust and love back to the family.

With farmland being developed into residential areas, space for horses is dwindling yet ranches and backyard breeders keep producing foals. It is an ever growing problem that needs to be seen ad not overlooked. Just as with companion animals, rampant reproduction of whatever you have to whatever your neighbor has is just as detramental to lives of the horses. When millions of horses are being slaughtered in america, why are we overlooking the effects of backyard breeding in the equine community. Help end equine overpopulation by castrating your stallions and not breeding your mares. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
