Caring For Your Pet Naturally and Holistically

This video shows some of the tricks I have been working on recently with Kiko and Splash. Some of the more interesting ones are, teaching Splash to look left and look right, teaching her how to skip, and how to shuffle backwards in a bow. Kiko started offering a tap dancing behavior which I captured, as well as scratching with her back feet. I also taught Kiko to go between Splashes legs as I saw a Boston Terrier do in the movie Hotel for Dogs, and thought it would be very cute to teach. Splash however, looks stressed as you can see, when kiko works too closely around her, because Kiko usually will boss Splash around if she is too close to her. All these tricks were taught using clicker training and no forms of positive punishment (meaning me saying No! or eh eh! Wrong! Or any physical manipulation)

www.pamsdogacademy.com Twix is now 18 weeks old and I started working with him to not be fearful of things since he was 10 weeks old (that is when I brought him home). When we were out and about one day he showed signs of fear around skateboarders, so I started working on the issue right away. We live in sunny San Diego where there are MANY skateboarders and I do not want him to be fearful of them. Have fun with your dog today! Have a great day! Pam & Twix

More to come in this description box. But this video is of the beginning steps of how to train your dog to love being left alone as well as how to set up a error free environment to leave your new puppy in. This video is low quality 1-because its so long, but I wanted you to get a sense of “real time” from it, rather than a slick 3 min tutorial- which will be coming as well going over all the steps and problem shooting 2- because I had to use a different camera because Frys Electronics screwed up MY video camera! dog training clicker training whining barking crate pen how to stop seperation anxiety home visit clicker training a new chihuaua chihuahua puppy rescue

Over 3 weeks in June 2008 the Louisiana SPCA hosted 14 campers in 7th and 8th grade. 4 cats were trained: Cornish, Mia, Nezzie, and Tux. After thier experiences with the campers they were put up for adoption. After the camp all the campers wrote about what thier favorite thing to do at camp was. Overwhelmingly, the answer was train the cats!

Pouffie in her FIRST ‘High Five’ training session. She is already trained to sit (4 legs on ground), sit-up (only hind legs on ground) and wait. I’m building on the behaviors of this prior training (chaining). Pouffie quickly realizes I’m asking for something new when I tap on my arm and she tries to find the answer. It’s like a giant game of ‘Kitty Cherades’. Whether you use a bridge (such as a clicker) or other affirming response (such as a ‘Good Boy’) indicating the animal has found the right answer, what solidifies the behavior so quickly is the use of positive reward…in this case, a tasty treat. This is my dog training tip of the day. How to build calmness in your dog using their meal. If you think in the terms that you are training your dog 100% of the time, every reinforcement you give your dog or the environment gives your dog, is building some behavior or emotional state….

www.pamsdogacademy.com Hi all my YouTube subscribers and friends. Here is my award winning APDT NewTrix video. The theme was how to solve a behavior problem by teaching a trick instead. So, I took the behavior problem of Barking at the doorbell and made it the trigger for the dog to go to his crate and close the crate door. There are other levels of the trick in case some dog owners were not able to teach that one. They could train the dog to just go to a crate or a dog bed instead. I will be heading to the APDT conference in Atlanta to receive my award. I hope to meet many of my YouTube subscribers there and hopefully spread the word about my YouTube channel. As many of you know I train dogs and cats using clicker training and positive reinforcement. I do not use positive punishment. If one does not use force or intimidation with killer whales, elephants, and other wild animals, then why would we need to use force or intimidation on our dogs??? I hope you enjoy this video! Have fun with your dog today! Have a great day! Pam, Isabelle, Bandit, & Twix
